Even though people tend to misunderstand the role of the online games and see only the bad part of this industry, playing online games is undoubtedly an activity that can bring real benefits. Often seen as a two-edged sword, the gaming industry has continuously developed into one that's almost as powerful as the weight loss industry.

The main argument against spending time playing online is that children tend to be addicted, fact that may affect their social lives, characters and even their grades at school. But this mustn't necessarily be true as it's all more of a time management issue for the parents.

Truth is that there are lots of advantages and skill that can be obtained easier with the help of the online games. Obviously, these activities must be closely supervised by the parents/tutors in order not fall in the unwanted side, but as a general rule, they can bring many more advantages than disadvantages. For instance, in terms of skill, children can easily increase their:

  • Time management skills. Many games, especially cooking games and RPG's require the players to do certain actions in a very limited time. This way, kids learn about what it's like to accomplish a task within a time limit, fact that can be quite helpful in the future.
  • Cooking knowledge. By playing food games, kids - girls especially - are taught about the basic actions of cooking a certain type of meal. Once again, this can give a tremendous help for the kids, especially for the ones that love to spend time in the kitchen with their parents;
  • Common sense. By playing any sort of game that involves a good side and a bad side, children are taught about the basic rules of life, but also about common sense. They are taught how they must not lie and nor steal, as just like the bad guys from the games, there will be consequences;

Obviously, the list could go on with several other advantages and skills. The above three, however, are the most important ones, as they are responsible for forming the character and the way of thinking of the little ones.
